GREGG ALLMAN & CHER
People Magazine Covers 1975-76

Cher and Gregg Allman were rock and roll royalty when they met in 1975. Cher was a TV icon and showbiz legend, and Gregg he was a southern rock superstar with a bad boy reputation. The pair met in January 1975 after Cher watched Allman perform solo at The Roxy nightclub in Los Angeles. According to his biography, Allman wrote he was "so blinded by her" when he saw Cher, and their relationship immediately took off. Cher would tell People magazine years later that "nobody ever made me feel as happy as Gregory did." According to this magazine article, Gregg has officially been "tied to the Whippin' Post." Imagine if it actually said that?
